Hi! I am Michelle from Teach123. Jennifer asked me to be a guest blogger on her site to liven things up a bit! I recently found the Scholastic Widget on the Internet and just had to share it with you!
We all know that Scholastic Book Clubs are a wonderful resource for building your classroom library. But, did you know they are also a great resource when you are planning lessons? Scholastic.com has a section for teachers called book wizard. Book wizards gives helpful information such as genre, reading level, themes, etc. There is also a search option so you can find other books similar to the book you type in the box and you can even adjust the reading level. This is perfect when you have those spark plugs who need to be challenged! The majority of your class may be reading one book, and with this search option you can find a similar books for students who are working above or below level. It's the perfect tool for differentiation. You can add a widget to your blog, too. Here's a screen shot:
Click on the computer to add a book wizard widget to your blog.
Thanks for reading!
Michelle
Scholastic's book wizard is awesome! I used it almost 2 years ago when it came out to level 95% of the books I had in my classroom for their GRL level. It is nice because I can use that with my literacy stations and I know my kiddos can pick a just right book.

ReplyDeleteGlad it will help you!
ReplyDeleteI agree with what it says that it is very important that we have to add a widget in our blog for easy reference. So for more information on adding additional blue widget to one of your blogs online, visit our website today.
