Well....ladies and gents....

I had a great new scoot game to show you guys, and would love to share it with you, but TpT seems to be on the blink.  Right when I am feeling creative!!!  Oh well....I'll have to make a note to upload and share it tomorrow.  I can't even include the freebie I was going to give you guys.  =(    Maybe it will seem like Christmas tomorrow when I get to give it to you.....building the anticipation and all!!!

It is Spring Break at my house and THANK GOD for it!!!  I have used the time to go to doctors appointments for my kids, visit with my mom who lives 2 hours away, and work on a tiny bit of school  work.  Hopefully I can squeeze in some rest time, also.  I'm going to try anyway!  I have to tell you though, I am still seeing some learning take place with my kids...my boys are sounding out and writing the words that ALL boys need in their vocabulary:  Spiderman, Batman, and Superman.

I do have a WONDERFUL announcement to make!  Rachel Reyna, of FisherReyna.com, has given me permission to share her site with you and has included a FREE PASSWORD for the rest of April so that you can use her test prep/reading site with your kiddies to try to get an edge on the rest of the teachers that have joined my blog!   MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH  <that's my evil laugh in case you don't know how it sounds!>  But, we can take some pity on those that haven't seen the light and haven't dropped in to read what's going on here on Best Practices, so if you have a friend that needs some more test prep ideas, feel free to direct him or her to this blog post!!  Here is what you do:

A HiTech approach based on the New TEKS....

Being provided e-lessons that are easy, fun, and interactive, students learn the critical attributes of various genres and text in meaningful context that will transfer positively to any content area. This approach connects any curriculum with the new reading TEKS and testing.

An approach that extends content beyond basic reading lessons of isolated skills...

Reading standards indicate that reading should be taught in the classrooms all day, every day. In addition to providing incredible e-lessons, HiTech Test Prep is designed to serve as training or on-going staff development for teachers. Guiding questions in each e-lesson serve students and teachers. Teachers learn to ask appropriate questions and provide a consistent method of instruction. This opens a never-ending application to content beyond the reading curriculum. In turn, students learn to ask themselves similar guiding questions when they read and write independently.
