Praised be the saints....Wednesday is over! All of the K-2 teachers in my building remarked on the fact that we all were exhausted today. Spring has sprung and keeps on springing more and more everyday.
Most of our building is going over test taking skills like you wouldn't believe!!! Here is what we reviewed today:
a. If you don't know how to say a proper noun, just use the first letter--especially if it is a name of someone.
b. Try each answer to find the best answer for the question.
c. Get rid of the answers that do not make sense!
They are doing pretty good with excluding answers that do not fit, but we are still working on the rest!
Today, the funniest thing happened. We were going over our Weekly Word Wizard my kids asked me why they didn't have quizzes that looked like the Weekly Word Wizards. I told them that I didn't know, but we could do some research and find out. Ahhhh....the perfect time to review letter writing skills in a real life situation! So, I pulled up my email a the kids told me what to type and we sent a letter off to Mrs. Boehm <aka Denise at Sunny Days> to ask her for some answers!!! I left my email up and everytime my screen told us that we had email they begged me to check it!
In my math practice mode, I began using a graphic organizer that the kids are enjoying and I am getting a lot of mileage from. I made it into a google doc for you to download. I have to warn you though that it is pretty plain. I haven't been able to 'purty it up' as one of my students put it today, but they seemed to enjoy it. So...give it a whirl and let me know what you think I should add or take out! This is a true work in progress.
