Currently....

I love this totally mindless activity.  I just type whatever pops into my mind first.  I haven't even thought about it...but I was reading that some teachers do this very same activity with their students. Interesting thought!  So...if you are interested in doing that, link up with Farley at Oh' Boy 4th Grade and DO IT!

I was asked today by our literacy lead teacher if I would mind being videoed while teaching a lesson for my county's website.  My first thought was to jump for joy that she thought I was good enough to be on the website.  My second thought was--I HATE being in the lime-light.  I know you are sitting there thinking that must be impossible since I blog and all, but that is behind the safety of my computer.  When you first meet me 'in real life', most people think I am 'reserved' and I have even been told that others have thought I am 'snooty' <which is a laugh!  I am a down-home fried potatoes and pinto beans 'n' cornbread kind of girl, so snooty is no where in the picture>.  In truth, I inherited my mother's Social Anxiety Disorder, which requires immense concentration on not getting freaked out in a large group of people.  I tend to be very quiet and stand-offish until I am in a smaller setting and get to know people because I am utterly scared to death.  So anyway, teaching and being videoed is not a problem....talking with her after I teach to explain how the lesson planning evolved...not a problem....the thought of hundreds of teachers watching me on video....HORRIFYING!!!  It's like being in a huge group while not being in a huge group!  But....such is life....and I will deal with it when the time comes.  I know it is a great honor and I really do enjoy lesson planning and debriefing lessons <I know....don't throw pencils at me--I am a nerd>.

I am in the throws of teaching my Cinderella unit, which is my favorite!  Even the boys have gotten into it even though it is a 'girl lesson'.  I keep telling them to just wait because I know before long I will be using my favorite book, Bigfoot Cinderella!  In fact, my little second grader found the book tonight on my bed and BEGGED me to read it to him, but I told him that he'd have to wait and hear it with his other 2nd grade classmates.  He was bummed, but such is life!  He was especially excited when he saw the covers of Cinderlad and Prince Cinders, so all is not lost.   I know I will hook those boys yet!  If only life could be like every ending in a Cinderella book....I have the prince, prefer flip flops to glass slippers, and luckily never had the mean, ugly stepsisters or stepmother, so I guess life is better than a Cinderella book!  By the way, if you get a hankering to teach Bigfoot Cinderella since I mentioned it....you will laugh so hard!  I also have a lesson that you can download to help you out!  So...just click here!

Until later!
